Project Description:

This project consists of modifications to the existing terminal building from curbside to security check point including a  new vertical transportation core consisting of elevators, escalators and stairs; expansion of the baggage claim areas on Level 1 by moving the rear wall “airside”; increasing the sidewalk of the departure area on Level 2 and enlarging the Level 3 Moving Walkway enclosure.  To serve the 3rd Level with the vertical circulation components, the roof will be “raised” allowing windows to be installed for the introduction of natural light into the Terminal Building.  The project also includes new floor finishes, wall and column cladding, new exterior walls, ceilings, signage and graphics, lighting and furnishings. New life safety systems include a fire suppression system, smoke control system, fire alarm system, emergency power system upgrading, increased occupant egress and a paging system which includes a new state of the art public address system.  The mechanical and electrical systems will be upgraded to include new air handling units and ductwork, new telecommunication rooms, a new building management system, upgrading of the non-emergency power system and provision for the improvements of the air quality of the lower vehicular drive.  All renovations have been designed for accessibility in compliance with the ADA.  This project will be constructed in sequence with the American Airlines North Terminal Development in order to maintain the operations of the existing terminal.
